National Node of the BCH

National Competent Authority

The National Competent Authority (NCA) has to be identified under the Biosafety Act. NCA is responsible for handling of the applications and communicating to the applicant and to the Biosafety Clearing House(BCH) on the regulatory functions.

SECTORAL COMPETENT AUTHORITIES

Sectoral Competent Authorities are considered as expert technical bodies for analysis of specific categories of Living Modified Organisms(LMOs) and provide support to National Competent Authority(NCA) and implementation of relevant sectoral acts on biosafety. Sectoral Competent Authorities are mentioned below:

  • Central Environmental Authority (CEA)
  • Department of Health Services
  • Department of Animal Production and Health
  • Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources
  • Department of Agriculture
  • Department of Wildlife Conservation
